The history of Rusmarine Group of Transport Companies dates back to 1991. Vyacheslav Nikolaevich Gruzinsky, the President of the company, left Baltic Shipping Company where he worked in the Inflot department of foreign vessel services and founded his own company.

Rusmarine Shipping Agency became an agent for Maras Line, a line operator which, by that time, had opened a regular container line between Saint Petersburg and some of the largest ports of Northern Europe. In addition to line agency services, Rusmarine offered port agency services at the Sea Port of Saint Petersburg.

At the start of the company there were only three staff members: V.N. Gruzinsky started working from the bottom with just two more people. Back then, the agency market was only occupied by Inflot, and Vyacheslav Nikolaevich was the first one who started working independently.
